CHELSEA, AL (WBRC) - Family members have identified the person found dead off of Highway 280 near Chelsea Park Drive Tuesday afternoon, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

Relatives say the deceased person is Solomon O'Connor Flowers, a 24-year-old man from Irondale, the sheriff's office reported on Thursday.

His cause of death is still pending an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the sheriff's office said.

Major Ken Burchfield said Flowers' body was found in a vehicle near an outdoor advertising sign around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. Authorities believed it had been there for about 24 hours.

The sheriff's office says the investigation is ongoing.
