JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - A 29-year-old Cropwell man was arrested on Wednesday morning after getting in a standoff with Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies for six hours.
Around 1 a.m. on July 13, deputies were called to investigate a report of a shooting outside a home in the 1400 block of Posey Circle in Mt. Olive, Sgt. Jack Self said.
When they got to the scene, no one was outside. Deputies learned that the man who lived at the home was shooting, but had gone back inside, Self said.
The man's two small children were also inside the home and his wife was at work.
Self said deputies contacted the man, identified as Dallas Lindsey Perkins, by phone but he "became irate and refused to come outside to speak with them or let them check on his children."
Negotiators and a SWAT team also responded to the scene. Perkins' wife also came home and he allowed the children to come out, unharmed.
Just after 7 a.m., Self said SWAT members entered the home and arrested Perkins.
Perkins was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was later released on a $600 bond.
