HEFLIN, AL (WBRC) - Heflin police are asking the public to help track down a stolen classic vehicle worth some $30,000.

Police Chief A.J. Benefield says someone stolen a vintage 1977 Ford Bronco, with all original parts intact, sometime in the overnight hours of Thursday night and Friday morning.

The green SUV with a white top did not have a tag, but a VIN number of U15GLY72300.

Benefield says it was taken to an automotive shop May 2 to fix any maintenance issues that could be found, and mechanics worked on it steadily and finished work Thursday night.

At that point, they left it parked under an overhang.

The vehicle was discovered missing Friday morning. Heflin police made a photo of the vehicle available on its Facebook page.

Anyone with information on the vehicle's whereabouts is urged on to contact Heflin Police Investigator Stacey Hendrix at (256) 463-2292.
