BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Trussville teen with Down Syndrome is turning 17 on Saturday and people from all over the world are sending her birthday cards to help her celebrate.

When Olivia White went to her mailbox on Friday, she and once again pulled out more cards and some gifts.

Inside her Trussville house, Olivia's mother estimates her daughter has received about 500 cards. Her mom, April White, put up a request for cards on her Facebook page.

"I just wanted her day to be special. I put it on about a month ago and she's received numerous things through the mail every day," April White said.

Olivia is admits she doesn't know everyone who is sending her cards.

"I don't know all them. I know some people we know," Olivia said.

Olivia got a card from England and one from Russia. She also got a special signed photo from Alabama football coach Nick Saban.

The soon-to-be 17-year-old is very appreciative.

"Yes, it makes me happy from my heart. I get it," Olivia said.

Olivia's mother was shocked at the response.

"She is appreciative. I just want her to know there's good people left in the world," April White said.
