TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Nine out of the Top 10 seniors at Tuscaloosa's Central High School are female this year.

The Top 10 ranking is based on GPA.

Mari Filer is top of her class with a 4.5 GPA and a 30 on her ACT. She plans to attend Florida A&M University.

"I give God all the glory and all the props for all my accomplishments because without Him none of this would be possible," she said.

Justin Morrow is the only male to crack the Top 10.

"During my whole time in high school I never thought I was doing anything extraordinary. I thought I was just doing what I was supposed to do. But for me to come out and be Number 10 in the class, it's really an amazing experience," Morrow said.

And with a record $5 million in scholarship money divided among these students, the class shares a strong bond.

"Well, at first I was so ecstatic because I'm in the top ten with all of my friends so I'm really proud of all of our accomplishments," Alisha Caves said.
