Woman, 71, accused of shooting man, 70, over poker game

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa police charged a 71-year-old woman with attempted murder for shooting a 70-year-old man in the leg after claiming the man had stolen her money in a poker game.

Police responded to a shooting at the Forest Lake Apartments in the 2300 block of Forest Lake Drive around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20.

Officers found the 70-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to DCH for treatment.

The suspect, Ethal Barron, and the victim had been playing cards at the victim's apartment. Police said Barron accused the victim of stealing her money in an earlier poker game at her house.

Police said Barron then shot the victim and took his money. She has been charged with attempted murder and first-degree robbery.

Barron is being held on a $60,000 bond in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
