TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - The Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit confirms a shooting on AL-216 near exit 100 of Interstate 20/59 in Tuscaloosa County.

The victim, a 39-year-old male, has been taken to UAB West and is in surgery. His condition is unknown at this time. Investigators add that a 43-year-old male suspect is in custody.

Investigators say the victim got out of his car, which was pulled over on the side of the road, and went over to the suspect's car. That's when he was shot twice.

Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide investigators say they have not yet determined a motive but it appears the victim and suspect may have had altercations in the past.

Multiple witnesses are being interviewed.

Drivers are being diverted to Exit 97 of I-20/59 because part of AL-216 has been closed between the Petro gas station and Love's Travel Stop.
