2 Sunday shooting victims identified

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police have identified two of the victims in a rash of shooting deaths Sunday.
Matthew Dickerson, 27, was shot and killed Sunday night in the 8100 block of 6th Avenue South.
The shooting stemmed from an altercation between Dickerson and a suspect, according to police.
Dickerson was pronounced dead at the scene.
A person of interest was detained and is being questioned by police.
Cortez Rhynes, 30, was also killed Sunday.
Responding officers found Rhynes lying on the ground outside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound around 2:54 p.m. in the 1700 block of 26th Avenue North.
Investigators are not sure whether Rhynes was shot inside or outside of the vehicle.
"As we investigate, we will try to uncover just what transpired between the victim and the suspect that lead to the shooting," said Sgt. Bryan Shelton with the Birmingham Police Department. "Whatever happened in this situation, the family deserves to know."
No suspects are in custody.
Both shootings are still under investigation.
