Birmingham PD: Teen has life-threatening injuries after shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police are responding to a shooting in the 1700 block of Jefferson Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirm the victim is a 15-year-old male. He was transported to Children's of Alabama with life-threatening injuries. Lt. Edwards adds the teen is in stable condition.

Our crew on scene says traffic is blocked on Jefferson Avenue while officers work.

Sgt. Bryan Shelton says the victim was in an altercation with another person on a MAX bus.

The two got off the bus and that's when the juvenile was shot. Police are investigating whether the juvenile returned shots.
