GADSDEN, AL (WBRC) - A new lab could draw more students to the University of Alabama's Gadsden Center.
For years, the university offered a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering but students had to go to the main campus in Tuscaloosa or another campus in Dothan for their lab work.
Now, a lab in Gadsden means local students won't have to drive so far and university officials hope to draw more people from surrounding areas, even from further out.
"We can do this at least regionally. We would like to be able to do it, like to draw a larger audience. If people are willing to fly, we're willing to accomodate them," Midkiff said.
The new lab will be available for the spring semester for this year, and labs will be held all day on weekends.
