Arrest made in Birmingham homicide

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police have identified and charged a man in connection with a homicide investigation.

Fessor Pearson, 30, of Birmingham is charged with murder. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

The victim, James Morgan, 56, was shot and killed around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 while walking with a female friend in the 2400 block of 9th Court South.

Investigators say the suspect approached Morgan shot him in the chest. The suspect then ran away on foot. Morgan was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have not released a motive in the case.
