BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A man lost his life Saturday morning after being shot in the chest while he was walking with a woman in the 2400 block of 9th Court South.

Birmingham police are investigating the shooting death as a homicide. Lt. Sean Edwards described the victim as a black male but did not release his identity.

Investigators say an unknown man approached the victim and his friend and shot him in the chest. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

What led to the shooting remains unknown.
