Boy, 11, accidentally shot by brother while quail hunting in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A 16-year-old accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother while quail hunting in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, according to the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.

The boy's injuries are not life-threatening, Captain Gary Hood with the homicide unit said.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office asked homicide investigators to respond to the shooting in the 13000 block of North Rosser Road around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

The incident happened when a 69-year-old man took his grandsons quail hunting on their property and the 16-year-old accidentally shot his younger brother while trying to shoot a quail.

The 11-year-old was hit by birdshot, which injured his face and left hand. He was taken to DCH in Tuscaloosa and expected to be OK.
