HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - A clinic that offers a new way to treat diabetes patients opened in Hoover on Tuesday.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and Hoover officials helped Trina Health out of Florida open. The clinic has two businesses in south Alabama. Trina offers an alternative treatment for diabetes rather than the traditional shots and diet.

A company spokeswoman says they use a pump to infuse insulin into a patient's body to help the person improve from diabetes.

"What's fantastic about it is it kinda teaches your pancreas what it's supposed to be doing and it tricks your body into actually helping to reverse, and eliminate and heal some of the side effects of diabetes and its complications," Tara Miller with Trina Health explained.

The company is starting off with about 15 patients and plans to double that number soon. The company is looking to expand more in Alabama.
