PELHAM, AL (WBRC) - Three men have been charged with the murder of a man found stabbed in a vehicle in Pelham last week.
Pelham police responded to a car crash in front of Valley Elementary School early Sunday, Aug. 12 and found a man suffering from a stab wound inside. The victim was identified as Emilio Alonso. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
On Aug. 21, Pelham police officers obtained murder warrants against the following suspects: Oscar Adonay Alvarenga, 30, of Montevallo; Jose Armando Erazo-Acosta, 38, of Pelham; and Pedro Edgardo Portillo, 37, of Pelham.
Pelham Police Chief Edgar Thomas, Jr. says Erazo-Acosta and Portillo were arrested on Aug. 21 and Alvarenga turned himself in to Pelham police on Aug. 22. All three suspects are being held at the Shelby County Jail.
Chief Thomas says the investigation is ongoing.
