TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - By Sherea Harris
TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A University of Alabama student who fought off her attacker spoke about her scary ordeal and she hopes other women will learn from her incident. The 19-year-old sophomore didn't want to be identified.
She says around 1:30am last Thursday ,she was in the shower and heard a noise.
Only in her towel, she walked out of her bathroom and came face to face with Yuni Gonzalez.
She punched him and also kicked him in the ear.
"I don't even know what came across me. My adrenaline was rushing," said the victim. "I hit him pretty good. So he kind of stepped back. He told me 'hush, be quiet'. And then he lounged towards me. That's when I darted out of the door and ran to my neighbor, banging for help."
She says what she endured was traumatic, but she's proud of herself and hopes other women will learn from her what happened to her.
"Throw punches, kick, whatever you can to make sure you're safe," said the victim.
The suspect found his way into another condo at the same complex, where police say he sexually assaulted a woman.
She also fought him and was able to get away.
Thanks to surveillance video at the complex police were able to track down the suspect and arrest him
