MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The Alabama New South Coalition has voted overwhelmingly to endorse Ron Sparks for governor. His Democratic primary opponent, Artur Davis, decided not to go through the group's screening process.
A spokesman for the Coalition says Davis' decision not to attend the group's meeting Saturday in Montgomery helped clinch the endorsement for Sparks.
The group also endorsed Lieutenant Governor Jim Folsom, Jr. for re-election, Michel Nicrosi for attorney general and Jeremy Sherer for state treasurer.
