Toi Thornton

Toi Thornton joined the WBRC FOX6 News team as the Traffic Anchor for Good Day Alabama in August 2020.
Toi is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Dillard University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Broadcast Journalism in 2014. Toi graduated with his Masters of Arts degree in New Media Journalism in 2016 from Full Sail University, while working as a reporter in Lafayette.
He began his career in news at FOX8 WVUE in New Orleans as a Production Assistant while completing his undergrad degree. During his senior year, he interned at WDSU (NBC) in New Orleans for two semesters.
His first on-air gig as a Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) was in Alexandria, Louisiana at KALB in 2014. In 2016, he was Weekday FOX Anchor/MMJ at KADN News 15 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Toi left Lafayette for Mobile in 2017. He was a Reporter/MMJ at WALA FOX10 in Mobile, Alabama for three years. While there, Toi also taught journalism as an Adjunct Professor at Spring Hill College in Mobile.
Toi is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.
While his love for home is ever-present, from the food, the people, the southern hospitality, Mardi Gras, and the Saints “WHO DAT??”, Toi is excited to be in the Magic City. He hopes to be embraced while developing a love for Birmingham and the wonderful people in it. Although he's been in Alabama for the past three years, make no mistake he is still a LSU fan! GEAUX TIGERS!!!
