Sheriff: Suspect in hospital after deputy-involved shooting in Blount County
BLOUNT Co., Ala. (WBRC) - A person was shot by a Blount County Sheriff’s Deputy in Cleveland Tuesday afternoon, according to Sheriff Mark Moon.
It happened before 3 p.m. at County Road 1 and Highway 231.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), deputies from the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Blount County Sheriff’s Office, and an Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were attempting to arrest and execute a warrant for Stevie B. Holmes, 40, of Cleveland concerning making a terrorist threat. Holmes resisted arrest and utilized a sharp instrument to attack and injure a deputy from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office which resulted in Holmes being shot.
ALEA said Holmes air lifted to a local area hospital for medical treatment and is currently in stable condition.
The injured deputy involved in the shooting suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
