BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Police investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy shot inside a Birmingham home Tuesday night say the shooting was an accident.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 13-year-old Jeremiah Pruitt was inside a home in the 1500 block of 51st St. Ensley around 9 p.m. when he was shot.

Pruitt was transported to Children’s of Alabama for treatment where he died a short time later.

The Birmingham Police Department says their investigation led them to deem the shooting accidental.

No other details about the shooting are available.
