BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide they say happened Tuesday night in the northern part of the city.

Police were called to the 2700 block of 29th Avenue just after 6 p.m.

Officers were patrolling the area when they were flagged down by citizens saying a man was on the street at that location.

After police investigated further, they determined the man had been shot.

The Jefferson County coroner identified the victim as 60-year-old Arthur Lee Swift.

Police say they do not have a lot of information about what happened, so if you know anything that could help them, you’re encouraged to reach out to the Birmingham PD or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
