UPDATE: Man dies in mobile home fire in Center Point, woman in critical condition

CENTER POINT, Ala. (WBRC) - A man has died and a woman is in critical condition after being injured in a mobile home fire in Center Point.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the man Jerry Lewis McReath. He was 65.

Center Point Fire Chief Gene Coleman tells us the fire started around 3 a.m. in the Hidden Valley Mobile Home Park on Potts Hollow Road.

McReath and a woman were inside the home when the fire started. A neighbor across the street pulled McReath out of the house, while the woman was able to get out safely. Both were taken to UAB’s Trauma Center.

McReath later died at the hospital.

No word yet on what started this fire. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Center Point Fire are investigating.
