CALERA, Ala. (WBRC) - New information after a man was shot and killed inside a home in Calera neighborhood Saturday according to the Calera police Department.

Police arrived at the residence on Creek Run Circle in the Shiloh Creek subdivision to discover the victim.

From the Associated Press: An Alabama woman has been charged with capital murder by police who say she killed her estranged husband in front of their 7-year-old daughter. Records show 36-year-old Tekedra Staffney is charged in the gunshot slaying of 35-year-old Jesse Myrone Rutledge on Saturday.

The man was shot to death in a home in the Shelby County city of Calera. Authorities filed the capital charge, which carries a potential death penalty, because the child was present.

Records show a judge ordered the man to stay away from the woman in January after she sought a protective order claiming he might kill her.
