COOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - There was a massive explosion in Coosa County Monday afternoon.

Firefighters say a vacant home exploded in the 800 block of Highway 22, just inside the Coosa County line. It happened a little after 3:30 p.m.

Alexander City firefighters responded.

There were no injuries and it appears a gas leak may have caused the explosion, according to Alexander City firefighters, but they stress that the cause remains under investigation.

Investigators from the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal also responded.

Multiple fire crews from ACFD and Kellyton are on scene of a structure on Hwy 22w between city limits and Ray Community. Please use caution in the area.
