HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WBRC) - The Homewood Police Department says a man has been charged with murder after a 33-year-old man was shot and killed at a motel Friday afternoon.

28-year-old Devonta Jamal Ephraim has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Anthony David Decola.

The incident happened at the Motel 6 on Vulcan Road in Homewood around 12:45 p.m. Friday, April 23.

Ephraim was initially arrested at the scene after a brief foot pursuit. He has now been taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held without bond.

Police say their preliminary information suggests the shooting happened after a verbal argument between Decola and Ephraim.
