BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) -Alabama’s mask mandate will end next Friday, but Birmingham City Council President William Parker says they’ll vote Tuesday on a citywide mask ordinance.
Parker believes a citywide order could help curb COVID-19 even more especially knowing that a lot of people haven’t received the vaccine yet. Parker feels we’ve made a lot of progress in fighting COVID but he says we can’t let up. He used a football analogy to hammer in that point.
“You can’t spike the ball on the five yard line. You have to run it into the endzone and so we’re at the five-yard line now. We still have a lot more work to do before we can rid ourselves of COVID-19.,” Parker said.
We’re told if the vote passes, then the face mask ordinance could be in effect for 30 or 45 days.
