BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Waste collection has changed in Jefferson County.
Effective Thursday, April 1 the county changed trash pickup service from Waste Management to AmWaste.
The change comes after several complaints about pickup and service. We were told there have also been hiccups during the transition including old trash cans being picked up at homes a week before the new cans were delivered.
Jefferson County Commission President Jimmie Stephens said, “There were sometimes two week delays in picking up people’s garbage. This has been an ongoing problem and this will finally fix it, but it’s going to be a transition period and we ask everyone please bear with us while we make this change, but I promise you it will be better.”
If you have questions or problems the county has set up a garbage hotline. That number is 205-788-1400.
