WINSTON Co., Ala. (WBRC) - UPDATE: The National Weather Service confirmed three brief tornadoes from the March 31 storms.

The tornadoes were in Marion, Winston and Blount counties, ranging from EF-0 to EF-1 strength.

Heavy winds and rain left damage in parts of Winston County Wednesday morning.

WBRC FOX6 viewer Rex Seymore said a storm hit their area around 4 a.m. March 31.

Firefighters with the Helicon Volunteer Fire Department say the Helicon community was also damaged.

A family lost their home in the community. A Gofundme account was set up to help them.

One house had the roof taken off and the garage was damaged. On the other side of the street a barn was damaged.

The winds brought down a tree, limbs and part of a nearby structure.
