PELHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Alabama Forestry Commission carried out a planned, controlled burn at Oak Mountain Thursday, March 4.

The groups said the 200-acre burn was to restore the native mountain long leaf pine habitat at Oak Mountain State Park. It is also meant to help lower the risk of a wildfire.

The burn was between Highway 280 and I-65.
