WALKER CO., Ala. (WBRC) - One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Empire Friday night, according to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they were responding to a domestic violence call when they arrived on the scene. A source with knowledge of the incident said a man called 911 for help with his mentally ill son.

It is unclear what led to the altercation, but video has since surfaced showing what appears to be the moments leading up to the fatal shooting.

Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith acknowledged the video in a post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. In the post, Smith says the video does not tell the full story and insists that a full investigation will be conducted.
