Gadsden man charged with murder after discovery of human remains in Odenville

ODENVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - Police in Odenville say a man has been arrested following the discovery of human remains over the weekend.

Joshua Phillip Kyle, 34, has been charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.

The remains were found in the Hunter Crossing area last weekend. The remains are believed to be that of 76-year-old John Scoggins. Forensic identification is pending. Scoggins was reported missing last week in Odenville.

Odenville Police Chief Glenn Walton said Scoggins and Kyle did know each other.

Kyle is being held at the St. Clair County Jail on no bond.
