BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - Jefferson County engineers said they have changed and increased the “green” time on the traffic light on Powder Plant Road that was installed near the Amazon plant in Bessemer.

Engineers said Amazon leaders requested the traffic light for vehicles coming to and from the facility.

JeffCo engineers said the goal of changing the traffic light is to make it more efficient and to keep drivers from having to sit too long at a red light.

Recently, the facility has been in the news as thousands of Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer are voting to decide whether to unionize.

The mail-in ballots went out Monday, February 7 and votes will be counted on March 30.
