VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WBRC) - A long-time leader in the Birmingham area has passed away.

Charles A. “Scotty” McCallum, Jr. died early Saturday morning of natural causes at his Vestavia Hills home. He was 95.

McCallum was UAB’s third president. After he retired from UAB, McCallum served as Vestavia Hills mayor for two terms.
