Police investigating robbery, shooting & carjacking at Ensley convenience store

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham police are investigating a robbery, shooting and carjacking at a convenience store in Ensley early Wednesday morning.

This happened in the 900 block of 20th Street, across from Fire Station 16. The victim was take to an area hospital with injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police say the suspect approached the victim as the victim finished pumping gas. The two chatted for a minute and when the victim turned to get into his car the suspect grabbed him and they tussled.

During the tussle, police say the suspect stole the victim’s gun and shot him in the leg. The suspect then jumped into the victim’s car and drove away.

Police have not released any information on the suspect. We will update this story when more is known.
