Alabama lawmakers react on social media to protests, violence at U.S. Capitol

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Some Alabama lawmakers are on lockdown after protesters breached the U.S. Capitol. Some have taken to social media to communicate what they are feeling and seeing.

Protesters got inside the Senate chamber Wednesday afternoon. One got up on the dais and yelled “Trump won that election.”

President Trump urged his supporters to come to Washington to protest Congress’ formal approval of Joe Biden’s Presidential Election win.

WBRC FOX6 News reached out to several lawmakers to see if they are safe.

@RepTerriSewell tweeted she is safe. @FOX6Hardison spoke with @Robert_Aderholt spokesman who said they are also safe.

Staff of @RepMoBrooks say they’re safe and believe the National Guard is en route to the U.S. Capitol.
