Coroner asks for assistance locating family of man killed in Linn Park Saturday morning

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham Police are investigating a homicide after a body was found in Linn Park Saturday morning.

North Precinct Officers were called to the park shortly before 8 a.m. When they arrived they learned Birmingham Public Works personnel were cleaning the park when they found the victim laying unresponsive. The Jefferson County Coroner pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The coroner has identified the victim as 56-year-old Chong Ku Hwang. All efforts to locate family have failed and the coroner is asking for the public’s assistance. Hwang has lived in Birmingham since at least 2015 and is possibly from Colorado. Family or anyone with knowledge of family is asked to contact the coroner’s office at 205-930-3603.

There are no suspects in custody.
