JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed early Friday morning in separate wrecks.

Shortly after 2 a.m., deputies say they were called to the 1000 block of Eastern Valley Road after a vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a house. A 26-year-old man was found inside the vehicle and once he was removed was determined to be deceased. No one in the home was injured.

At approximately the same time in the 6600 block of Pocahontas Road, deputies responded to a pedestrian struck. Arriving deputies located a 56-year-old woman who had gotten out of a vehicle to cross Pocahontas Road and stepped in front of an oncoming car. She died at the scene.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle stayed on the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.

Neither victim has been identified.
