BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - It’s a UAB holiday tradition that brings smiles to hundreds of children in Alabama, and COVID-19 didn’t stop it from happening in 2020.
UAB Hospital held its annual Christmas celebration and toy drive Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of toys and bikes donated by employees of UAB Hospital and all UAB outpatient clinics were delivered to the Salvation Army at a ceremony in the atrium of UAB Hospital’s West Pavilion.
Held since 2009, this year the event was virtual, with employees looking on via Facebook as hospital leadership thanked them for their contributions.
And this is the really good stuff: Described as ‘an ocean of toys and bikes,’ the number of donations in 2020 was the most ever received.
