OXFORD, Ala. (WBRC) - The Yellow Jacket Marching Band the Sound of Champions is a good example of what Oxford High School is all about.
It is more than just music, it is about relationships, teaching and learning, not necessarily how the band is rated at a competition.
160 members make up the band under the direction of David McDaniel.
“We have it all when it comes to a band,” said McDaniel. “Our three auxiliary groups are incredible, and you add that with our talent and how the students play the instruments it just all comes together for a really good show.”
This Fall’s halftime show is all about the King of Rock-n-Roll, Elvis Presley. The Yellow Jacket Band opens the performance with the intro to Elvis’s Hawaiian Tour 2001 Odyssey, then rolling into C C Ryder, followed by Jailhouse Rock culminating with Bossa Nova Baby.
The Yellow Jacket Marching Band the Sound of Champions will be showcased Friday on WBRC Sideline at 10:25 p.m. on WBRC FOX6.
