Rain chances are expected to climb on Sunday ahead of a powerful cold front. Expect showers and thunderstorms with rain chances around 70%. At this point, the risk for severe weather looks low. Behind the front, expect a dramatic drop in temperatures with lows by Tuesday morning falling into the upper 20s.
What about snowfall? It is possible early Tuesday morning, but unlikely we will see accumulating snowfall. It is rare to get accumulations behind a front in this part of the country. The best chances for a few flurries or some brief showers is north of I-20 extending into the Tennessee Valley. It is still a few days away and temperatures could trend too warm for any wintry precipitation in our area. This is something we will watch.
