BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - UPDATE: Alabama football coach Nick Saban is still symptom-free after testing positive for COVID-19.
Jeff Allen - Associate AD, Sports Medicine said, “Coach Saban was evaluated by our team physician Dr. Jimmy Robinson today. Coach remains asymptomatic at this point and is doing fine. He is continuing to self-isolate and will remain in the SEC testing protocol while being evaluated daily.”
Coach Saban said he and the team are getting ready for the Georgia game as normal.
Saban, addressing the media after he tested positive for COVID-19, said he’ll continue to hold team meetings through Zoom.
Saban said the team had a plan for if a coach tested positive. Right now Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian is overseeing preparations at the complex. Saban is working at home.
Coach said he will prep the team from home. He participated in a practice over Zoom Wednesday.
Saban said he wears a mask all the time and on the sidelines, but he said travelling exposes the team more to COVID-19 than staying at home in the bubble.
Coach Saban said, “I personally think I did a really good job of trying to manage my personal space." "My message would be adhere to protocol of what people are asking us to do.”
“Assume everyone you might come in contact with might be infected,” said Saban.
The Crimson Tide kicks off at home against the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m.
