MOODY, Ala. (WBRC) - The Moody Blue Devils have to postpone their next two football games because of positive COVID-19 cases closely related to the high school football program.
MHS will cancel or postpone the football games for the next two Friday nights against John Carroll Catholic High School and Hayden High School (August 28 and September 4, 2020).
Principal Christopher Walters says the Alabama Public Health Department advised parents to wait six days and see if any symptoms appear. At the end of 14 days, that should be long enough to determine if there is a problem or not.
The two games with John Carroll High School and Hayden High School have been rescheduled. Walters said losing games for the next two weeks is hard on everyone.
“It was pretty crushing for our football players and coaches. We got a very supportive community that was ready to come back to school. They were ready to come back to football. They were super supportive when we went to 50% capacity and understood. It has not been fun,” said Walters.
But Walters said these steps are necessary to keep everyone safe. The school administrators could not tell which coaches were exposed or not, so all coaches were quarantined.
The school had to lose the Springville High School game for this season, which is a big game because it’s so close, but the school had to make room for the region game with Hayden.
The next game for Moody is now scheduled for Friday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Bill Morris Stadium.
