BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Honda announced Thursday that it will extend its production suspension at its plants.
The company now plans to resume operations April 7. The original return date was March 31.
Honda said in a release the extension is in response to the continued steep decline in market demand across the automotive industry due to the coronavirus.
During this time, Honda will continue to provide opportunities for associates to be paid, including providing full pay for some non-production days and pulling ahead vacation for others. Honda will utilize this time to continue deep cleaning of its production facilities and common areas to further protect associates upon their return.
