SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A person died Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a crash with a Shelby County school bus.
The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 55 and Hwy 280. No children were on the bus.
A bus and a vehicle were involved. The person who died was in the vehicle.
The bus driver and an aide are OK.
A Shelby County Schools spokeswoman emailed this statement: We have been made aware of an accident that occurred this afternoon involving a Shelby County school bus. We have been unofficially informed by local law enforcement that there was a fatality in the other vehicle involved in the accident. Our hearts and prayers go out to that person’s family.
At the time of the accident, the bus was occupied by the driver and an aide. The bus is assigned to the Linda Nolen Learning Center, which is located near Oak Mountain State Park. The driver and aide were en route to the school to begin their afternoon bus duties. No students were on the bus at the time of the accident and there are no reported injuries to the driver or the aide.
