UAB “Proud” of season after falling to #20 App State 31-17 in New Orleans Bowl

UAB proud of season after finishing 9-5

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (WBRC) - It's not the outcome UAB wanted, but after losing 35 seniors last year, the Blazers still won 9 games, won it's division in Conference USA, and played in it's third consecutive bowl game.

Although head coach Bill Clark doesn’t believe in moral victories, he says the Blazers came as close as you can to having one.

"Just to see the fight in our players against a really good team that's what I want to be known for, how hard we play. I think for two teams battling the way we did, we handled ourselves pretty well and you know the future is bright," UAB head coach Bill Clark said.

"We came up short and we have to live with this the whole off season and there's going to be pain in the off season," said UAB wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr.

"We have to let this fuel us in the off season for next year We don't want to come up short like we did this year We are trying to win it all next year," added UAB linebacker Kristopher Moll.

UAB ends the season 9-5, but the good news for Coach Clark, he returns the majority of his players as he only loses 15 seniors from this roster.
