NEW ORLEANS, La. (WBRC) - UAB will play #20 Appalachian State Saturday night in the New Orleans Bowl as the Blazers look to rebound after their 49-6 beat down by Florida Atlantic in the Conference USA Championship game a couple of weeks ago.
“I think for us it’s having something to prove. It’s a big challenge, it’s a big task,” said UAB head coach Bill Clark.
UAB will be playing in its third-consecutive bowl game since returning to action in 2017. UAB won its first bowl game in program history last year, which was a 37-13 victory over Northern Illinois in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl.
A win over No. 20 Appalachian State would also give UAB its first victory over a ranked opponent since 2011.
UAB and #20 Appalachian State kickoff Saturday at 8 p.m. inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
