BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - It has been an incredible football season at Helena High School in Alabama. The school won its first ever region title in football and the marching band electrified the crowd during halftime with an “From Ordinary to Extraordinary” type performance, where the 207-member band played like 207 superheroes.
“This band has a great attitude, because all it wants is to entertain the crowd,” said Helena High School Band Director Jeff Burnside. “We put this show together with the thought that it would really challenge the students and their instruments and we could not be more pleased with their efforts and performance.”
The halftime performance includes songs from the theme’s of movies Captain America, Iron Man 3, Hercules and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
The Helena HS Marching Band competed at the Pell City competition recently and earned Best in Class. The group is gearing up for a parade at Disney World in Spring 2020. The band will be in the spotlight Friday on Sideline at 10:25 p.m. on WBRC.
