Bessemer Blues Man Mr. Gip of Gip’s Place dies

BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - Henry (Gip) Gipson has died.

Gip was a blues guitarist and lifelong musician who inspired other musicians around the world.

Gip owned Gip’s Place, one of the last true juke joints left in America.

His manager Diane Guyton posted on social media that Gip died Tuesday.

People would come from all over to visit Gip and to hear him and others play the blues for hours on the weekends.

People have described Gip’s Place as magical.
