BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A shooting in the parking lot of a Mcfarland Blvd strip mall leads to a suspect arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Police arrested 22-year-old Mikheal Christopher Gilliam after witnesses say two vehicles pulled into a parking lot and the drivers exchanged words and began shooting at each other.

One vehicle fled the scene and was later located at a nearby residence.

Gilliam was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of discharging a firearm into occupied vehicle, and one count of discharging a firearm into unoccupied dwelling. He will be transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and held pending a $150,000 in total bonds.

According to police, there were three people in the vehicle that Gilliam shot into, the driver, a 31-year-old female, and a 15-year-old female.

Officers recovered over 30 shell casings and one firearm.

No one was injured.
