“I made my decision last week and it all came down to trust,” said Watford.

When asked, Watford said LSU head coach Will Wade’s suspension earlier this year did not impact his decision.

On his decision to not choose Alabama, he hinted at the recent coaching changes in Tuscaloosa. “It was difficult, obviously I’m a huge Alabama fan. I love Alabama football and basketball, but with the coaching changes it was a big turn in my recruitment. Coach Avery recruited me since I was in the 8th grade, I wish them luck, I love my state and love my city,” Watford added.

Watford will report to LSU on June 5.
